“Shakespear* was mother’s milk to me…. When I was twenty, I knew everybody in Shakespeare, from Hamlet to Abhorson.” –Bernard Shaw
“The magic of Shakespear’s language owes more to the music of the verse, the sheer sound of the words, than to its meaning or even to its imagery… Shakespear gains his effects through pauses, rhythm, the color of the vowels, the mixture of vowels and consonants, and the flow or interruption in the line…his power lies in his enormous command of word-music.” –Bernard Shaw
